‘My wife and I are about to move house again. We’ve done it quite often enough already, but I have a new job to go to, and there it is. And so, once more, we’ve had to think about all the things we own – the clutter of old china and furniture, as well as one or two nicer things which we’ve been given from time to time. I have been reminded of the wise old saying that you should only have in your house things which you know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. I suspect that, if we applied that criterion strictly, there would be at least one load of rubbish to be thrown out. We shall see...
