Most of us know the feeling of getting into a car we haven’t driven before. You have a look round, see where the switch for the lights is, check the angle of the mirrors, and so on. It may take a moment to figure out, with some of today’s cars, how to start the engine. But then, as you drive off, you revert to instinct. You think you’re putting the lights on, and the windscreen wipers start up. Or the other way around. It’s harder to change these little habits than we might think...
