Life Within Marriage
1 Corinthians 7.1-7

I was staying for a week in the suburbs of an American city where I hadn’t been before. I had some free time lined up, and after a long flight and many hours at a desk I fancied going for a good walk. I asked my host where he would recommend.

‘Well,’ he said, ‘under no circumstances go more than four blocks to the south. Just don’t go beyond that, whatever you do. But in the other directions there are a few options. If you want a city walk, with shops and cafes, then head north – though you may find some of them closed today. If you want a nice park, with a lake and plenty of trees, then go east – but I think you’ll find that during the afternoons it’s so full of joggers that you might not find it too easy to have a relaxed walk. But if you want to see part of the old town at its best, go half a mile west, and then north, and you’ll find yourself back in another century. Wonderful old houses, hotels, streets and shops. It’s fascinating.’...
