Speaking Clearly in Church
1 Corinthians 14.6-12

Two days ago I went to a meeting where seven or eight different languages were used in quick succession. There was a large crowd being addressed, including people from many parts of the world. One by one the speakers got up and spoke, repeating the same message so everyone could hear it.

I watched people’s faces as this went on. With each new speaker, suddenly a whole section of the crowd would sit up, look eager, and concentrate; at last, this was something they could understand. Then, with the next speaker, that section would settle down again and another group would come alive. And so on. Slowly the message got across to more and more until eventually the whole crowd had been included...
