JOSHUA 7: 16-26

Today (as I am writing this) is Black Friday, when the stores hope to get their books into the black as the year draws toward an end. People will have been lining up all night or will have got up at crazily early hours to get a plasma TV for a hundred dollars. Last year an employee at a Walmart was trampled to death when the store doors opened. Yes, coveting can kill, or at least cause heartache and distress within the family. When I was nine, my parents kept a mom-and-pop store, and I used to steal from the till. Eventually my mother caught me and made me confess to my father. I acted contrite, but what I actually felt was remorse for getting found out, and I didn’t immediately stop; I was simply more restrained and more careful (I did stop soon afterward)...
