Lovefeast

Description

Lovefeast

Introduction – explanation

The Agape, or Lovefeast, was a practice of the first Christians

It continued and remembered the table fellowship of Jesus and his disciples.

The first Methodists revived the practice, drawing on that of the Moravians.

It has largely died out in Methodism, though still practiced by Moravians.

Methodist Sacred Concerts always conclude with a bun-fight, or ‘zummitverzupper’!

New initiatives such as Alpha have shown the importance of a shared meal.

Not all Christians can fully share in each other’s Communion Services, but all can share in this.

The following order should be interspersed with contributions of recent testimony, witness or prayer.

Announcement of the Lovefeast – blow the shofar
