Week 1: The Gift of Creation
Reader 1 For many people Christmas is about giving and receiving presents. For us, as Christians, advent is a time to reflect on all the gifts that God has given to us, and so we think today about the wondrous gift of creation.
Reader 2 Wherever we look we see evidence of the wonders of creation in the world around us, the land and the seas, the plant life, the rocks and minerals, the fish, birds, animals and insects, all of then created through the power of God.
Reader 1 Genesis 1 v 1 says ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.’ Then verse 31 says ‘God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the sixth day.
Reader 2 Let us pray; Lord, everywhere we go we see the work of your hands in creation. We thank you for giving us everything we need to live and them more besides, help use to use what we have wisely and enjoy our environment without spoiling it for generations to come. Amen
