Reflection: Royalty
In our so-called civilised world,
evil leaders rule with cruelty, violence
and a total disregard for the welfare of their people.
Other, manipulative people
prefer to be the power behind their leader’s throne
and use cunning, political scheming, bribery and double dealing
to satisfy their desire for control.
Wealthy leaders can buy favours and court popularity,
whilst ignoring the poverty around them.
Celebrities may use their public status to flout the law
and give a bad example to those loyal followers
who have financially supported them in their immoral lifestyle.
