Reflection on Luke 17.11-19
Ten is a nice round number. Ten fingers, ten toes – though with Leprosy that might not be the case, I’m not quite the man I was before I got this awful disease. We used to travel together, there is safety in numbers and when you live on the edge, on the outside, beyond the city wall you need all the safety you can get. Bandits and wild animals were threats at night and during the day we were expected to hide away and keep our distance so that we wouldn’t infect others or make them unclean.
