Description

Poem: Our calling as Christians, to let God be God

Proper 20 Year A
Jonah 3:10-4:11

Our calling as Christians, to let God be God,
conflicts with our selfish agenda;
the way that God treats us so often seems odd,
less valued, and more chief offender.

Our selfish agenda can hinder God’s grace,
we envy the way some are favoured,
for that’s how it seems as we watch from our place,
their pleasure seems more than we’ve savoured...

14th Sunday after Pentecost, poem, calling, Christian,
selfishness, pleasure, jealousy, unfairness, grace
