Monologue/meditation: Lament

Share all or part of the reading from Lamentations.
The speaker, a modern day Jeremiah, is sitting on a stool, thinking. Raising his or her head, begins to speak...


The rooftops were wet,
shining in light that glinted between clouds.
The damp mist of the air seemed to hold the misery of the world,
hanging there.
Far above the town,
'lion's head rock' we called it,
clambered to it
guitily through a neighbour's garden,
then over slithery grass to that vantage point,
remote to a teenage boy.
