The Second Sunday of Easter

John 20.19-31

Gaze on Jesus. He looks exhausted and worn out, as if he’s been on a long journey. But there is no mistake, it is certainly him. He’s appeared when he was least expected. Gaze on the disciples, nervous and jittery. What a state the disciples must have been in that night, feeling as children do when they mount a dark staircase alone at night, creeping up with their back to the wall on their way to bed, and praying for rescue. But now Jesus is with them, they are at peace; for once they are in the right place at the right time. Jesus is there to take their hands and guide them on their way...
