I was talking to a woman who was angry with God. It was a strangely unfocused anger. She was a homemaker of the old-fashioned kind. She had been faithful to her husband, and as far as she knew he had been faithful to her. But he was only really interested in his work, or perhaps his work just consumed all his energy. He came home with nothing for her. Their two sons had grown up and left home for college, and they were fine young men, but they too were not very interested in her any more. She had a part-time job, but it was boring. Her life seemed to have no point to it. She had done her best, and everything seemed empty (Abel-like, in fact). And she was angry with God. She did not wish to look God in the face. She did not wish to talk to God...
