Description

"Jesus changes lives", was written as a talk / homily and was given at a small church service.

However I thought that others might enjoy reading it in transcript form.

The subject is the healing of blind Bartimaus and Zachius' calling and conversion. Written by Audrey Hogan

Extract:

We have three separate incidences in the life of Jesus related to us in this Gospel reading. Each of which took place on a journey Jesus and His followers were making from Perea to Jerusalem. This is the seventh time Luke has recorded Jesus predicting his suffering. Jesus was trying to prepare his disciples for the difficult time that awaited them in Jerusalem. He is preparing them for the events which would lead up to His death at Calvary.
Only as Luke tells us the disciples are not able to bear it yet and it seems as if His heavenly Father dulled their ability to understand at this time. Jesus seems to have to bear this knowledge alone. Only his heavenly Father can and does draw close to him at this time.

Quickly Luke moves on to the next scene as it were, and we see how the disciples witness some thing they can understand. Jesus demonstrates Compassion with a capital C.
