Prayer for this day: God of love and mercy
First Sunday in Lent Year A
God of love and mercy,
we come to pray because we know we need your forgiveness.
No matter how hard we try,
we so often fail to live up to the standards that
you set us for our Christian lives.
We know the laws of old: we know the pattern that
Jesus set when he lived among us, but we find it
so hard to cope with our very human faults and mistakes.
Sometimes we even feel like giving up altogether...
