Description

Prayer: For exiles

Proper 16 year A
Exodus 1: 1.8 – 2.10

(In Egypt, the Israelites were first welcomed and then despised.
The world doesn’t seem to have changed much, even after all this time.).

Compassionate God,
we pray for those who are living in a foreign country,
tolerated, but exploited;
welcomed, but distrusted;
working, but regarded as intruders;
accepted, but warily
because of differences in culture and beliefs.

We pray for those who are aware that their lives are controlled by others –
sex slaves,
sweat shop workers...

21 August 2011, Tenth Sunday after Pentecost, Exodus 1: 1.8 – 2.10, prayer, exiles,
refugees, exploited, slaves, despised, prejudice, danger, compassion, care, hope.
