Description

Candlemas 2014 A Father Remembers by Mandy Coutts

Music – Taize chant or Peruvian Gloria

Notes:
This service was a café service. The main part of the drama took place in the middle of the church on a slightly elevated platform with the congregations sat around at tables eating. The market scene was at one end of the church and the Temple scene at the sanctuary end of the church. The drama moved around the church. The Temple scene had the sanctuary stripped and was only lit by candles and living bowls of flame, projected onto the back of the sanctuary was an image of the cross in shadow. Towards the end of the service the cross then is bathed in light as the holy family look to the future. The church has low lighting with lanterns on the tables, during the hymns which are sung without introduction the main lighting is switched on.
