Meditation – 1st Sunday in Ordinary Time Yr A
This is the man
Matthew 3: 13-17

I went to see John today, out by the Jordan; you should have been there, it was incredible; I’ve never experienced anything like it before!

You know what John is like – larger than life to say the least; rough, rugged, built like an ox, and bellows like one too! Well, there were a lot of people there today, from all walks of life, even some Sadducees and Pharisees, I recognised quite a few from the Temple; John recognised them too! You should have heard him roar at them! When he first caught sight of them, he turned and almost charged at them, shouting, ‘You brood of vipers, who warned you to run away from the coming judgement? Don’t think you are safe because you’re children of Abraham; do something worthwhile with your lives and prove that you’re worthy to be children of Abraham!’...
