Always there

Poem/meditation: Always there


Lord, you have always been there
for your people.
From the beginning of creation,
right through to this present day,
you have given strength and support
to anyone who has asked you for it.

But, as we grow older,
we recognize how brief life really is –
seventy, eighty years –
more of you have the right constitution
and care.
Yet, in the great scheme of things,
how short a time that is.
