Poem- Advent II
The candle we light is a sign of the Word
Today we will honour its promise and power;
It will shine here for not much more than an hour;
The Word lasts for ever – haven't you heard?
The candle we light remains silent, but say,
Haven't you heard that when God speaks the end
Of our silence is made? And nothing, no enemy, friend
Will be able to speak when He brings in His day.
