Each of the following sketches (scenes) can be used to form the basis for a complete act of worship or used as individual scenes on separate occasions. Each scene will require a narrator to read the linking text as well as the characters in the scene itself.

The Vine (Short Sketch)
As they walked through the darkness Jesus continued to speak quietly to them.
Jesus: This very night you will all panic and run. Remember the scripture that says – ‘I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered…’? It’s about to unfold.
Peter: Lord, I want to talk to you about that.
Jesus: Peter, I’ve told you, it will happen. And as to your own fears – before the cock crows twice you will have denied me three times.
Peter: No way. I will die with you tonight Lord. I promise. Nothing will stop that. Nothing.
Thomas: Me too Lord, whatever happens we’re with you.
Jesus: I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. Just like any gardener he prunes the branches. He cuts back and he throws away dead branches. He prunes the good ones so that they will be fruitful not once, but many times.
Peter: Lord, if you say you’re the vine – what are we – the branches?
Jesus: Exactly.
