A man called John
“The reign of God is near at hand‚”
the Baptist preached throughout the land;
this man, called John‚ whom God had sent‚
required his hearers to repent.
“I am a shouting voice‚” he said;
that voice of prophecy‚ long dead‚
revived with great effectiveness‚
was crying in the wilderness.
