The Israelites saw fire and clouds on the mountain—no doubt some meteorological phenomenon. But for Moses, it was the light of the Lord’s presence (Ex 24: 16; Ps 99: 7). We must never think that ‘it’s just the environment’. We are on holy ground. Matthew takes it a stage further. See how the environment first hides then reveals Jesus in glory— The Transfiguration is a foretaste of the heavenly kingdom. The author of 2 Peter claims to have been an eyewitness of this event....
